Day 1

Siem Reap

Check-in at the meeting point at the Victoria Angkor Hotel & Spa. We arrived early and enjoyed a lovely breakfast at the hotel restaurant before our departure (optional extra, not included in the cruise price).

We then travelled overland to the boat in a full-sized air-conditioned bus (included). The bus trip takes about 5 hours and a complimentary snack and water were provided during the trip. About half-way through the journey we had a rest stop at a nice open-air cafe where you could buy a snack and souvenirs if desired. This is also where the tour guide from the boat joined us and we bid farewell to the local guide from Siem Reap.

When we arrived at the boat the check-in was handled very smoothly and we were quickly shown to our stateroom, which was beautiful! We then headed to the dining and had a wonderful buffet lunch. The restaurant staff were extremely friendly and helpful which set the atmosphere for a relaxing and fun journey.

Afternoon activities

Children from a local school (NGO project) join us onboard and perform traditional songs and dances. After the performance, we participated in the afternoon excursion to visit the pre-Angkorian 7th-century temple of Wat Hanchey. The temple complex sits on top of a hill and provides a lovely view of the Mekong River and surrounding countryside.
