Day 3
Floating villages of Vietnamese immigrants
We take a local boat to the shore passing floating villages of Vietnamese immigrants which were established in the 1980’s, and then reach the shore and continue with mini-buses to a small rural village community just outside Kampong Chhang and go on a walking tour. Our guides will introduce us to rural Cambodian living as we learn how Khmer style potteries are produced and how various products are made from sugar palm trees. Before returning to the boat we explore the local floating villages and wetlands of the region.

Guide’s presentation in the lounge: “Geography of the Mighty Mekong and Tonle Sap”. The cruise continues with a languid meander along the Tonle River towards Kampong Tralach. We pass narrow river channel called “Aun lung Oak” a highlight of the day’s cruise.
Kampong Tralach
Visit Kampong Tralach, a small village situated on the riverbanks of the Tonle Sap River, just 50 km north of Phnom Penh. We visited the “Green School” which is support in part by Heritage Line. On the return journey to the boat, we travelled through the countryside past green rice paddies and lotus ponds in a traditional two-wheeled Oxcart.
