Day 2
Angkor Ban Village
The morning excursion was a visit to Angkor Ban village. It is situated on the riverbank of the Mekong, and is about 80 km north-west, from Phnom Penh. The Angkor Ban village is famous for its unspoiled community and beautiful, traditional wooden houses built on stilts and shaded by banana trees. It feels like being transported back a hundred years into an era unaffected by modernity.
It is one of the few villages that was not destroyed under the Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970s. A hidden gem in the heartland of Cambodia where the people keep their old cultural traditions alive as they go about the daily hustle and bustle of daily agricultural life.

Back on-board before we departed the local monks performed a blessing ceremony to deliver good spirits and wishes for a healthy and prosperous voyage.
Koh Oknha Tev & the confluence of the Mekong
& Tonle Rivers
The afternoon activities included a delicious high-tea and a traditional Khmer fashion show put on by the local staff, as we meandered down the river. About 4:30pm we arrived at Koh Oknha Tev, an island in the middle of the Mekong that is famous for manufacturing high-class silk products. For this excursion we travelled by tuk tuk to the silk farm and learnt how the silk is processed and watched the ladies weaving some very intricate designs. The farm also has a shop with quite a large variety of silk items that you can purchase.
